Don’t Talk About It (or Read About It)...BE About It!
Recognizing the necessity of having “real world experiences” in the Master of Public Affairs (MoPA) program at the University of San Francisco, grad students are challenged with developing a project to demonstrate their grasp of concepts and theories shared in the classroom…

The IDEA: in cooperation with YMCA Bayview Hunters Point Sports and Recreation Program Director, Celestino Ellington (a Hunters Point native + “success story”), the MoPA students developed a program called “In The Zone” to compliment Ellington’s Student Athlete Academy which supports the youth participating in their After-School Academic and Sports Academy.

The GOAL: as part of the MoPA student’s “In The Zone” program, a GOAL to raise $3,000 has been set to fund the redesign of an underutilized classroom space at the YMCA Bayview Hunters Point. The funds will be used to transform the space into “The Study Zone” - a comfortable, inviting, creative and engaging space for student athletes to meet with tutors, mentors and work with each other to prepare for SAT/ACTs, homework assignments, and college preparation.

The ASK: the MoPA students are asking you to assist in reaching their goal of raising $3,000 to improve this classroom environment at the YMCA Bayview Hunters Point.

Join this catalytic call-to-action and help encourage the youth of Bayview/Hunters Point to create their own “success story” just like their program director, Celestino Ellington.
